The Lakes

Originally consisting of a four acre lake dug by a fisherman for fishermen.  The lake starts in the top corner with depths of five feet dropping to eight feet between the islands. Half way down the lake the depth drops to ten feet before sloping to sixteen feet at the dam end.

The Fish

To complement the head of wild brown trout the lake has been stocked with seven types of trout consisting of rainbow, blue, golden, blond, brook, tiger andbrown.  Although not run as a big fish water, with stock fish capped at seven pounds, the current lake records are as follows

 Rainbow 16 lbs
 Brown 4 lbs (wild)
 Golden  4.9 lbs
 Blue  7 lbs
 Blond  2.5 lbs
 Tiger 3.5 lbs
 Brook 3.8lbs

Carp (common) taken on wet fly 3 pound

Best Approaches to Fishing

Most productive methods are wets, drys and buzzers with anglers keeping on the move and concentrating on the margins with a huge variation in fly life with constant fly hatches

An angler's first choice should always be the drys which have been most productive throughout the year including the depths of winter.

The New Lake

July 2006 saw the opening of the new three acre lake.  This is a deep water lake with twenty foot depths covering three quarters of the lake rising to ten foot at the boot.

This lake is also stocked with seven types of trout and although a new lake it has settled quickly with a good head of bull rushes already taking hold.
